Lovis Lorene Long, a native of Ash Flat, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2016. Lovis was born December 12, 1917, in Hoxie, Arkansas, to Mark and Laura Graham. She married Roy Joel Long in 1938, and they had two children, Russell and Rita. Because of Roy's work in heavy construction, they lived in a variety of places including Central America. Their longest residence was in Van Horn, Texas, where Lovis worked both in the post office and the bank. Upon Roy's retirement, they returned to Arkansas where they bought a portion of the farm where she had spent her childhood. She worked at the First National Bank in Ash Flat for many years. The final years of her life were spent in the EagleCrest Nursing and Rehab facility where she received wonderful care from the outstanding staff. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and her daughter, Rita Long Johnson. She is survived by her son Dr. Russell Long of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Darleen Roberts of Ash Flat; and grandsons Mark Long of Waco, Texas, Kevin Cabrera and David Cabrera, both of Houston. No funeral services are planned. Burial will be the Shiloh Cemetery located near Ash Flat with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
