Glen E. Schoon, 89 of Sidney died Thursday, November 10, 2016. He was born February 19, 1927 at Palmer, Iowa to Herman and Eleanora Toben Schoon. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Peace Lutheran Church in Highland. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, a member of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department and a Sidney Alderman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dean Schoon. Survivors include his wife, Vi Schoon of the home; four sons, Kurt Schoon of Scranton, Iowa, Brent Schoon of Bayard, Iowa, Neal Schoon of Bayard, Iowa and Ward Schoon of Winchester, Kentucky; one daughter, Lynn Darnell of Cave City; two sisters, Norma Brayton of Fort Dodge, Iowa and Doris Bennett of Perry, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Nancy Schoon of Coon Rapids, Iowa; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Memorial services will be held Sunday, November 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Sidney Cumberland Presbyterian Methodist Church with Rev. Brian Pummill officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. Honorary pallbearers are Members of the Sidney Volunteer Fire Department, Alex Moody and John Kaul.
