J.W. Wammack age 76 of Batesville died Thursday, November 17, 2016. He was born May 17, 1940 at Senath, Missouri to Grayden Thomas and Vivian Marie Taylor Wammack. He was a retired detective with the Independence County Sheriff’s Office, a member of Bell Masonic Lodge #322 at Bethesda and a member of the 20th Street Baptist Church in Batesville. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife of 31 years Carolyn Matheny Wammack of the home; four sons, Tom Wammack and wife Chris, Tim Wammack and wife Malissa, Terry Wammack and wife Stacey all of Southside and Ted Wammack and wife Sheilla of Melbourne; two stepsons, Jon Brown and wife Misty and Steve Brown and wife Jessica all of Poughkeepsie; one brother, Dempsey Wammack of Brockwell;one sister Sheila Gay of Southside; twenty grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in the Egner Cemetery located at Salado. Visitation will be Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Curtis Goodrich, Steve Davis, Boris Dover, Ronnie Elms, Brandon Draper and Tommy Mitchum. Honorary pallbearers are Dale Perkins, David McCall, Durwood Elms, Don McSpadden, The Independence County Sheriff’s Office and Employees of Mountain Meadows Health and Rehabilitation.
