Hiram Johnson

Hiram Johnson, 94 of Conway died Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at the Conway Regional Medical Center. He was born November 20, 1922 at Emery, Arkansas to James B. and Minnie Pearl (Anderson) Johnson. He was a retired mechanic and school teacher having taught auto mechanics at Camden Vocational School. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII; a member of Curia Creek Masonic Lodge in Cave City and a member of First Baptist Church in El Paso, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Emagene (Gay) Johnson; two brothers, Tommy Wayne and Norman Johnson and one sister, Pearlene Sowell. Survivors include his wife Alma Douglas Johnson of the home; two sons, Michael A. Johnson of Morgantown, Indiana and Roger D. Johnson of Sheridan; two brothers, J.B. Johnson of Batesville and Harry Johnson of Parkville, Missouri; three sisters, Nina Westmoreland of Sherwood, Ann Sullivan of Walnut Ridge and Glenna Cochran of Warrenton, Missouri; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at the Ring’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church located near Poughkeepsie with Michael A. Johnson, Larry Grubbs and Don Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in the Parsley Cemetery located east of Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Saturday, November 26, 2016 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. at the church. Pallbearers will be J.B. Johnson, Harry Johnson, Leon Cochran, Doug Johnson, David Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Ethan Johnson and Nate Johnson. Honorary pallbearers are Norwood Gay, Johnie Mewborn and Kirk Doyle.
