Eugene L. Ritter died on January 9, 2017 at the age of 96. He was born August 16, 1920 to Cecil F. and Opal Jackson Ritter of Almond, Arkansas and he spent almost all his life in the vicinity. He was preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Massengill; his wife, Wendell DeLoach Ritter and a daughter, Barbara Carleton. He is survived by one son, Cecil G. Ritter and wife Ann Bryant Ritter; four grandchildren, Daniel Ritter, Beth Christiansen, Nathan Carleton and Denise Carleton Hall; eleven great grandchildren and one sister, Floy Brent. He was a member of “The Greatest Generation” serving in the United States Army during WWII. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Concord where he served as a deacon. Mr. Ritter was a gentle, mild mannered but gregarious person who worked very hard all his life to provide for his family. He also worked hard to be helpful and generous to his many friends and neighbors in the community, to the people with which he worked and to the church. He will be interred in the Concord Cemetery beside his wife and daughter.
