Early on January 14, 2017, Dorothy Louise Reeves Smith passed from this life to her eternal home. Dorothy was born on December 28, 1935 to Kenneth and Irene Reeves. She was of the Baptist faith, a member of the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church at Dowdy, Arkansas. She passed away at the Bertrand Retirement Home in Bertrand, Missouri, at the age 81 years and 17 days. As a young girl of 18 she found the love of her life, Tony Smith and they were married on August 12, 1954 in Jesup, Arkansas. She and Tony started their young married life in Peoria, Illinois, and then eventually moved back to Arkansas, settling in Cord. Dorothy loved housekeeping, cooking and taking care of their daughter Sandy. She also spent 20 years in the Accounting Department at White Rodgers in Batesville. For many years she had a ceramic shop set up at her home in Cord, where she and friends would gather to paint and fire their pieces. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; and by her sister, Lora Reeves Schoenberger. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Tony Smith of Dowdy; their daughter, Sandy and her husband John Hall of Bertrand, Missouri; their grandchildren, Jamie and husband Gary Scott, Ashley and husband Mike Adams, Jonathan Hall and wife Amanda; and their great grandchildren, Taylor Scott, Garrison Scott and Strykar Scott, all of Bertrand, Missouri, Landry Johnson, Madison Hall and Hunter Hall. Dorothy is also survived by her brother-in-law, Richard Schoenberger, of Sun City, Arizona, and her sister-in-law, Anna Jane and her husband Melvin Creekmore of Jesup, Arkansas, and by many more relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Jackie Pickett and Bro. Tracy Grissom officiating. Burial will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery located at Strawberry with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service. Visitation will be Friday, January 20, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Justin Melton, Howard Weaver, Todd Weaver, Royce Bradley, Randy Bradley and Tanner Bradley. Honorary pallbearers are Doug Weaver, Cody Martin, Brent Williams, Brent Brown, Brad Curtis, James Warren Spotts and Jean Spotts. quallsfh.com
