R.L. Sutterfield, 77 of Locust Grove died Monday, January 23, 2017. He was born January 12, 1940 at Big Flat, Arkansas to Thomas Fairl and Ellen Lou Reese Sutterfield. He was a retired factory worker and a member of True Vine Baptist Church in Batesville where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jerry Sutterfield and sisters, Sarah Webb and Dale Siedner. Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Mary Sutterfield; sons, John Rogers of Sage, David Rogers of Batesville, Jeremy Rogers of Sebastian, Florida and Julius Simmons Jr. of Locust Grove; daughter, Charlotte Bishop of Locust Grove; brothers, Raymond Sutterfield of Fort Smith, Keith Sutterfield of Roland, OK, Teddy Sutterfield of Brinkley and Arthur Sutterfield of Jacksonville; sisters, Phyllis Wood of Gillette, Cindy Norman of Wynne and Irene Kersey of Brinkley; seventeen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Bro. Roger Knapp and John Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Alderbrook Cemetery at Desha. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ian Ward, Jonathan Dailey, William Casady, Justin Schwartz, Chad Keeney and Luke Larson. Honorary pallbearers are Corey Knapp and Michael Price.
