Ernest Lavelle Stitcher 94, of Marysville, Ohio formerly of Cave City, died Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home in Marysville, Ohio. He was born September 15, 1922 in Lanett, Alabama to the late Dennis and Mary Ethel (Gamel) Stitcher. He was a retired Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he served as a flight engineer, gunner and airplane mechanic. He enlisted September 11, 1943 and retired August 31, 1969. He served during World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. A church elder for over thirty years, he was a longtime member and teacher with the Cave City Church of Christ. He possessed a small craft pilot’s license since the 1940’s and enjoyed flying mainly around the west coast. As a child, he loved building and flying radio-controlled model airplanes. A loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and uncle, he held great devotion to his family and his church. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Cendie Lillie Frazier Stitcher; a son, Donald Lee “Don” Stitcher; his brothers, Dennis Stitcher, Merle Stitcher and a sister Duane Moore. He is survived by sons, David (Rhoda) Stitcher of Marysville, Ohio and Randy (Sharon) Stitcher of Cave City; grandchildren, Jennifer Tefft, Christopher Stitcher, Tricia Wallace, Jimie (Sherrie) Stitcher, Jessie (Tara) Stitcher, Andrew Stitcher and Randy Stitcher, Jr.; great grandchildren, Ashleigh Wallace, Kaiden Stitcher, Jada Tefft, Roseilani Stitcher, Whitney Stitcher, Sterling Stitcher and Tristin Jared Stitcher; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 11, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cave City Church of Christ with Dean Fugett officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
