Gerald Wayne Lay, 74 of Batesville died Friday, February 10, 2017. He was born March 6, 1942 at Harrison, Arkansas to Edward Hugh and Bonnie Flo (Morris) Lay. He was a retired truck driver; a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran and of the Pentecostal faith. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sisters, Frankie Mae Morris and Jeanette Williams. Survivors include his wife, Barbara “Bobbie” Lay; sons, David Lay and wife Rachel of Cave City; Michael Lay and wife Ouida of Beebe and Larry Lay of Newark; daughter, Christine Wilson and husband William Paul of Mt. Pleasant; brother, Roger Lay and wife Joann of Centralia, Illinois; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at White Oak Cemetery at Bergman with Randall Abbott officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City. Visitation will be Monday, February 13, 2017 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be David Lay, Michael Lay, Larry Lay, Roger Lay, Brandon Lay and William Paul Wilson. Honorary pallbearers are his grandchildren.
