James Bartis Hoggard, 90 of Cave City died Monday February 20, 2017. He was born May 17, 1926 at Grange, Arkansas to Leo and Zola McLeod Hoggard. He married Juanita Wilson on August 28, 1944 and they were married for 68 years until her death in 2013. He was a farmer, a sawmill worker and retired as a custodian for the Cave City Schools. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of the Union Missionary Baptist Church at Smithville. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Juanita Wilson Hoggard; brother, Jessie Hoggard; sister, Maxine Guthrie Smith and grandson, Shan Hoggard. Survivors include sons, James Hoggard and Jimmy Hoggard both of Cave City and Paul Hoggard of Sulphur Rock; daughter, Cynthia Smith of Batesville; brother, Charles D. Hoggard of Smithville; eight grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; one great great great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Bro. Mike Hoggard and Bro. Keith Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Travis Hoggard, Drew Hoggard, Matt Helms, Bryon Hoggard, Brandon Hoggard, Brian Carter, Chad Smith and Dakota St. John.
