Larry Leroy Coltharp, 74 of Batesville died Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was born October 7, 1942 at Caney, Kansas to Howard Leroy and Laura Louella (Ward) Coltharp. He graduated from Caney High School where he played football and was a member of the school band. He joined the army in 1960 and served in the artillery. In 1997, he retired from Boeing as a Quality Assurance Manager. He spent several years working with the Coast Guard Auxiliary. He was a York Rite Mason. Living mostly in Washington, he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed camping and traveling with his wife and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Phillip Coltharp. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Betty Combs Coltharp of the home; sons, Larry Coltharp of Leon, Kansas, Brian Coltharp and wife Karen of Batesville and Terrence Coltharp and wife Angela of Monroe, Utah; grandchildren, Abbigail Coltharp Robinson and husband Hans of Millington, Tennessee, Nicholas Coltharp and wife Deborah of Conway, Jeremy Coltharp and wife Megan of Jacksonville, Florida, Crystal Coltharp of Kansas City, Kansas, David Coltharp, William Coltharp, Benjamin Coltharp and Samantha Coltharp all of Monroe, Utah, Megan Trail and husband Daniel of Batesville and Sara Clinkscales and husband Dalton of Springdale; five great grandchildren; siblings, Steve Coltharp of Independence, Kansas, Mike Coltharp of Kansas City, Kansas, Susie Coltharp Thomison of Caney, Kansas and Lee Coltharp of Caney, Kansas; and a host of other relatives and friends. Larry’s family is looking forward to hearing stories and sharing memories at a memorial service on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Potts Funeral Home Chapel in Caney, Kansas.
