Denzil Warren Simpson

October 20, 1928 — June 4, 2017

Denzil Warren Simpson age 88 of Evening Shade died Sunday, June 4, 2017 at the Ash Flat Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center. He was born October 20, 1928 at Strawberry, Arkansas to Cletus and Lavenia Simpson. He was married to Georgia (Nichols) Simpson on November 19, 1955 and they were married for 61 years. He served in the U.S. Army from July 1950 until April 1955. He was wounded in battle near Sansong-Ni, Korea on June 3, 1951 and was a Purple Heart recipient along with several other medals of honor. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Georgia Simpson and a brother, Dale Simpson. Survivors include one son, Bruce Simpson and his wife, Kathleen of Clearwater, Kansas; 2 step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, and one step great great grandchild; two brothers, Lon C. Simpson and Devoe Simpson; one sister, Linda Serafin and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, June 9, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City with Dwight Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in the Evening Shade Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 9, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Joey Simpson, Sherman Dale Simpson, Lynn Simpson, Asher Qualls, Gary Wright and Ricky Qualls.
