John Edward Crawford-Long, affectionately called Sleeves or John-John was born to the late Gail Crawford Long and Carl Long on April 3, 1972 at the White River Medical Center in Batesville, Arkansas. and passed away on December 26, 2017. John spent the majority of his life in Chicago, Illinois and later moved back to Batesville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his mother; his grandparents and his stepfather, Emmitt Balentine. He is survived by his wife of 10 years, Angela Wells Crawford; four daughters, Jalessia Crawford and Candice Crawford both of Chicago, Illinois, Ashlyn Crawford of Bradford and Jay ‘Keyda Crawford of Newport; step-daughter, Tandra Scales of Jonesboro; son, Javon Crawford (Kesha) of Newport; stepson, Chaz Neeley (Stacy) of Fayetteville; two brothers, Jamal Balentine (Petra) of Newport and Ernest Wood of Chicago, Illinois; two sisters, Jasmine Borden-Martin of Chicago, Illinois and Neehe Ransom of Zion, Illinois; also survived by his very special nephews, Jarrell Hampton, Jamal “Doolittle” Balentine, Dave “Gumdrop” and Little White; a special niece, Joan Fry; seven uncles; six aunts and host of nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral services will be Friday, January 5, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Rev. L.A. Bland officiating. Burial will follow in the Ruddell Hill Cemetery in Batesville with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Thursday, January 4, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Darral Alcorn, Derrick Dixon, Jarell Hampton, Jermey Scales, Xavier Wells and Brian Polite. Honorary pallbearers are Jamal “Doolittle” Balentine, Dave , Fredrick Crawford, Daryl Townsend and Dwight Townsend.
