Betty Lou Gillmore Pilot, 74, of Charlotte passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, in Batesville. She was born September 3, 1943, in Charlotte, Arkansas to John Harvey and Zena Fallis Gillmore. She was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and wife who was known for putting her family’s needs before hers always working tirelessly to provide and care for her children and grandchild. She was a 1962 graduate of Sulphur Rock High School where she was a standout basketball player and was an avid Cardinals Baseball fan. She worked many years at International Shoe Factory in Batesville until its closure in 1986. Betty retired from the White River Medical Center in 2010, having worked at the Medical Arts Building for twenty-three years. She was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, J.D. Gillmore and Charles Evans Gillmore. Survivors include her husband of twenty-four years, Joseph G. Pilot, Jr.; two children, Dwight Evans Ford of Charlotte and Laura Beth Ford (Steve) of Batesville; granddaughter, Karis Ford of Charlotte; two stepdaughters, Heather Butler of Locust Grove and Holly Green of Batesville; three step-grandchildren, Hannah Butler, Houston Butler and Mica Green; two sisters, Shirley Reinhardt of South Haven, Michigan, and Lucy Harris of Batesville; three nephews; six nieces; a special great nephew, Nathan Gillmore; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel in Batesville with Rev. Jim McDonald officiating. Burial will follow in the Tunstall Cemetery at Pleasant Hill east of Sulphur Rock. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be John D. Gillmore, Jr., Chris Gillmore, Nathan Gillmore, Dustin Henley, Danny Cole and John Jackson.
