David Wayne Wesley, 66 of Cave City went to be with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Cave City Nursing Home. He was born June 9, 1951 in Raleigh, Illinois to John Henry and Ethel (Miner) Wesley. He was proud to be a Southern Baptist and served faithfully as a Minister of God’s word, until he could not anymore. He had a deep passion for proclaiming God’s word. He graduated from Southern Baptist College (now Williams Baptist), Ouachita Baptist University, Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and in 2005 he graduated from Trinity Theological Seminary with a Doctorate of Pastoral Ministries Degree. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and one sister. Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Jan Battles Wesley; two daughters, Sarah Huckabee (Adam) of Cave City and Rachel Dodd (Sid) of Cushman; five grandchildren, Mikayla Britt (Kolton) and Sadie Huckabee both of Cave City, Tristan, Cameron and Jordan Dodd all of Cushman; a brother, Jerry Ray Wesley (Ruth Ann) of Witt, Illinois; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. He is also survived by two very special friends, Michael D. Rice of Ashland, Kentucky and Dr. B.Michael Higginbottom of Cave City. There will be a celebration of his life on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Batesville with Bro. Michael D. Rice, Bro. Stacy Reed and Dr. Michael Higginbottom officiating. A private burial will follow in the Mt. Carmel Cemetery at Sidney with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service. Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2018 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Darrell Hays, Bobby Tosh, Gene Tulberg, Ronnie Toon, Larry Price and Steve Summers. Honorary pallbearers are members of Scott Blackwell’s Sunday School Class and Independence Baptist Association ministers of the gospel.
