Chief Deputy Jeff Sims, 44 of Sulphur Rock died Saturday, March 17, 2018. He was born March 4, 1974 at Batesville, Arkansas to Ronald McRae and Paula Jean (Osborne) Sims. He graduated from the Police Academy in 1998 and had worked 20 plus years for the Independence County Sheriff’s Office. He was currently serving as Chief Deputy. He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Southside. He was preceded in death by his father, Ronald McRae Sims; paternal grandparents, George McRae and Sybil (Thompson) Sims and maternal grandparents, Noble and Frances Osborne. Survivors include his wife, Bri Sims of the home; son, Peyton Sims of Fayetteville; daughters, Talyon Sims of Fayetteville, Ryleigh Crabtree and Lillian Sims both of Sulphur Rock; his parents, Fred and Paula Huckabee of Southside; brother, Greg Sims of Batesville; sister, Sandra Wulf (Ken) of Quitman ; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at UACCB Independence Hall in Batesville with Bro. Curt Howard and Bro. Aaron Leggett officiating. Burial will follow in the Egner Cemetery at Salado with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at UACCB Independence Hall. Pallbearers will be Tim Jones, Rob Leonard, Darin Brewer, Keith Bowers, Jerry Hagar, Jason Edington, Ricky Morales and Ernie Gillihan. Honorary pallbearers are All Batesville and Independence County Police Officers and Reserve Officers; Richard Nuckolls, Chuck Miller and Ronnie Toon.
