Chester W. Melton, 78, of Batesville died, Monday, June 25, 2018. He was born January 15, 1940 at Guion, Arkansas to Henry C. and Frances Alene Slagles Melton. He was a retired engineer from White Rodgers in Batesville and attended the Cornerstone Community Church of Cushman. He was an avid sports fan, refereed basketball for 20 years, and loved hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Kenneth Melton.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Billie Sue Melton of the home; two sons, Russell Melton (Michele) of Batesville and Wayne Melton of Jonesboro; one daughter, Paula Clark (Sky) of Mount Pleasant; one brother, James Henry Melton (Joy) of Batesville; three grandchildren, Lonnie Clark (Stacey), Candace Morrow (Ryan), and Nick Melton all of Batesville; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 28, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Cornerstone Community Church of Cushman with Bro. Leonard Tharp and Bro. Carl Blankenship officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery near Cushman with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Danny Carter, Phillip Edwards, Andy Cowden, John Adams, Ryan Morrow and Seth Brooks.
Honorary Pallbearers are Friends from White Rodgers and Breakfast Buddies at Hawgs.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to Amedysis Home Health, Nurses and Staff at Woodlawn Heights, and Dr. Ron Bates and Staff.
