Deborah Lynn Carter (Wilroy), 60, of Batesville, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House at St. Bernard’s in Jonesboro.
Debbie was born on February 15, 1963, in Stephenville, Newfoundland, Canada, to Robert and Laura Jewel Wilroy. After graduating from Batesville High School, she went on to study Business and Science at Arkansas College, now known as Lyon College.
Throughout her life, Debbie worked in various positions, but she was most proud of her work in local ministries, both in Arkansas and Tennessee. She lived life with a servant’s heart, even when she had nothing to give.
She was a devout Christian, lived a life that reflected the Holy Spirit within her, and always put God first. She loved her family fiercely. Though Debbie suffered with mental illness at times over the last several years of her life, she always returned to her loving, generous, kind-hearted self. She was quick to compliment and praise others, even during times of her greatest pain and suffering.
Survivors include her stepmother, Betty Wilroy; a son, Austin Carter (Lynsie Hice); a daughter, Alisha Carter Hightower (Donnie); a brother, Russell Cochran; three sisters, Barbara Guba (Thomas), Evelyn-Jane Wilroy (Don Bise) and Brook Wilroy Taylor (Jason); two grandchildren, Hunter Baker and Hayli Hightower, several step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, at 7:00PM at the Qualls Batesville Funeral Service Chapel.
Visitation will be from 6:00PM until service time at the funeral home.
