Ellene Vinson

Ellene Vinson passed away on Monday, October 14, 2019 at her home in Sulphur Rock. She was born Ellene Hayslip in the home in Sandtown, Arkansas to Joseph Henry and Ethel Hayslip on September 9, 1929.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Lloyd L. Riggs Sr.; a son, Lloyd L. Riggs Jr. “Joe”; a daughter, Carolin Sue Henson; a sister, Mary Althea Arnold; three brothers, Henry Hayslip, Richard Hayslip and Walter Hayslip and a great great granddaughter, Paisley Ann Sutterfield.

Survivors include her husband, Onzo Vinson of the home; a daughter, Helen Ann Taylor; grandchildren, Eddie Joe Carter, Deanna Garrison (Jason), Felicia Wright, Tina Brown, Rebecca Fortenberry and Jessica Burge; great grandchildren, Christopher Cope (Elizabeth), Steven Grigsby (Katy), John Garrison, Dakota Brown, Jacob Smart, Coby Mingues, Heaven Grigsby, Gabrielle Sutterfield (Zach), Mariah Smart (Jeremy),Nariah Smart, Emily Long, Alexander Garrison, and Mary Garrison; great great grandchildren, Annaleigh LeRayna Sutterfield, Scarlotte Ann Sutterfield, Riley Grigsby, Parker Hess, Chris Cope Jr., Keyarah Mae, Talynn and Kendryc; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Vinson loved her church when she was able to go. She was of the Baptist faith. She loved gardening, holidays and cooking for her family. She was a hard worker all her life. She was said to have a green thumb and her family said “She could grow anything”. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.

Graveside services will be Friday, October 18, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Weaver’s Chapel Cemetery in Batesville with Larry Sellers officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.

Honorary pallbearers are Christopher Cope Riggs, Gene Reynolds, Charles Hayslip, Daniel Vinson, Zach Sutterfield, John Garrison, Steven Grigsby and Dakota Brown.
