Henry Rivers

Henry Rivers, 84 of Evening Shade died Saturday, July 7, 2018. He was born February 27, 1934 at Beeville, Texas to Joseph Anderson Rivers Sr. and Celia Benavides Rivers. He was a retired U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in the Korean and Vietnam Wars; a member of the Civil Air Patrol for several years and Executive Director of the American Red Cross in Batesville for 7 years.  He was a member of the Bear Creek United Methodist Church in Evening Shade.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Linda Sue Rivers Sharp, two brothers, Al Rivers and Pat Rivers and one granddaughter, Mary Katherine Coderre.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marlene Rivers of the home; two daughters, Dianne Elaine Rivers Tharp (Jeff) and Juli Rivers Smith both of Evening Shade; one brother, Joe Rivers of Kingsland, Texas; one sister, Mary Catherine Rivers Pennington (Joe) of Wharton, Texas; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City. Burial will follow in the Bear Creek Cemetery in Evening Shade.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be John Shands, Josh Shands, Jim Shands, Lincoln Coderre, Brian Coderre and Mike Arnold.

Honorary pallbearers are Gordon Hale, Lonnie Haley, Rick Spurlock, Clay Campbell and Earl C. Haley.
