James Loyd Beard Jr.

James Loyd Beard Jr., 76, of Batesville died Tuesday, July 9, 2019. He was born December 27, 1942 in Jonesboro, Arkansas to James Loyd Beard Sr. and Ruby Elouise Adams Beard. He was a retired U.S. Army Veteran having achieved the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He served during the Vietnam Era. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Batesville. He worked 35 years for Arkansas Rehabilitation Services as Regional Area Administrator.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Paula Gail Davis Beard of the home; three daughters, Ann R. Beard Summers (Gordon) of Omaha, Nebraska, Teressa Beard-Tremagalio (Tommy) of Lake Worth, Florida, and Amy Beard Tallents (Lee) of Conway; one sister, Sandra Beard Ashford of Cherokee Village; 6 grandchildren, Benjamin Price, Joshua Price, James Tallents, Sarah Tallents, Colin Summers, and Clare Summers; one great-granddaughter, Olive Price; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
