J.W. Perkey age 92 of Cave City passed away Sunday, February 20, 2022 at his home. He was born January 19, 1930 in Cave City, Arkansas to Bob and Faye Eason Perkey. He was a retired cattle and watermelon farmer, a member of the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City and a U.S. Army Veteran. He was the oldest watermelon grower in Cave City.
He was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers, Olen, Conyard, Odis, B.F., Glen and O.C. Perkey.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Joyce James Perkey of the home; three sons, Tony Perkey (Norma), Mickey Perkey (Ruth) and Wendell Perkey (Jeannette) all of Cave City; one sister, Carnell Medlock of Dyersburg, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Scott, Tonya, Travis and Kyle Perkey; five great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church in Cave City with Bro. Boyce Johnson and Bro. Phillip Lewallen officiating. Burial will follow in the Cave City Cemetery with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Visitation will be Tuesday, February 22, 2022 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Perkey, Dale Weaver, Gale Weaver, Frank Daniels, Gary Tackett and Jon Patterson.
