Ronnie Gene Ashley, 72 of Batesville died Wednesday, August 7, 2019. He was born October 26, 1946 at Jonesboro, Arkansas to Gene and Glendola Ashley. He was a retired carpenter and farmer and a member of the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church at Cave City. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam War Veteran and was the recipient of three Bronze Stars.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Etta Faye Ashley; a sister, Tammy Shaver and a grandson, Grant Wilson Smith.
Survivors include one son, Randy Smith and wife Karla; one granddaughter, Kayla Godsey and husband Chris; one great grandson, Luke Godsey all of Smithville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at the Maxville Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Phillip Lewallen, Bro. Boyce Johnson, and Bro. Mike Haney officiating. Burial will follow in the Perkey Cemetery at Cave City with arrangements by Qualls Funeral Home of Cave City.
Visitation will be Friday, August 9, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Larry Johnson, Richard Penn, Bob Sisk, Chris Godsey, Robin Ashley, and Gilbert McCrackin.
Honorary pallbearers are Mike Ashley, Robert Platt, Aaron Cushman, Arbra Perkey, Doug Brinkley, and Glenn Medley.
