William Arnold Kunkel, 81 of Evening Shade died Monday, December 23, 2019. He was born September 27, 1938 in Evening Shade, Arkansas to Roscoe William and Susie Rush Kunkel. He was a retired truck driver, former owner of K and L Trucking in Evening Shade, had been a bus driver for Evening Shade School and was a jack of all trades. He was a U.S. Army Veteran, former Sharp County Justice of the Peace, former Evening Shade School Board Member, member of the Evening Shade Masonic Lodge and member of Piney Fork Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Lena Fay Kunkel and Reba Kunkel; son Michael Lynn “Wolfy” Kunkel; and two brothers, Norman Dale Kunkel and Billy Dean Kunkel.
Survivors include two sons, Donald Ray Kunkel (Ann) of Danville and Kenny Kunkel (Pam) of Greenbrier; stepson, Gary Don Harness (Janie) of Shirley; step daughter, Tammy Ferrell (Johnny) of Shirley; brother, Virgil Ray Kunkel (Sharon) of Evening Shade; sister, Jean Dodd (Jerry) of St. Clair, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Sarah Valosek, Travis Kunkel, Calvin Kunkel, Byron Passmore, Jessica Passmore, Randall Passmore, Holly Passmore, Shane Ferrell, John Ferrell and Jaron Ferrell; numerous great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Qualls Funeral Home Chapel in Cave City.
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
