William E. “Bill” Liles, 87 of Charlotte died Friday, June 8, 2018. He was born July 12, 1930 at Charlotte, Arkansas to Samuel and Ethel Wilson Liles. He was a retired Lieutenant for the Independence County Police Department and had worked 7 years as an officer for the Michigan State Police.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Jimmy Lue Liles; three brothers, Sammy Liles, Earl Liles and Clifford Liles and a grandson, Keith Howard.
Survivors include a step-son, Tom Coats and wife Cheri of Conway; a step-daughter, Karen Lange and husband Steve of Batesville; a brother, James L. Liles of Charlotte; a sister, Ruby Leech of Morristown, Tennessee; 3 grandchildren, Alex Coats, Clint Howard and wife Amy and Bryan Howard; 4 great grandchildren, Andrew Bradley, Evan Howard, Julianna Howard and Elizabeth “Lizzie’ Howard; several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 at the Bethlehem Cemetery located at 2107 CR 3201, Hartman, AR 72830 near Clarksville with Rev. Leslie Roper officiating. Arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service of Batesville.
Pallbearers will be Clint Howard, Evan Howard, Steve Lange and Jessie Justice.
Honorary pallbearers are Tom Coats, Alex Coats, Bryan Howard and Andrew Bradley.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Shamrock Cemetery Committee, Sheila Anderson, Treasurer, 870-613-5570, 1450 Shamrock Lane, Cave City, AR 72521 or 1370 Neeley St., Batesville, AR 72501 or to the Independence County Humane Society, 5 Environmental Drive, Batesville, AR 72501.
