W.T. Altom, age 92, of Concord, Arkansas passed from this life to be with Jesus on Monday, January 28, 2019. He was surrounded by his beloved wife and four children at the home he dearly loved. He was born July 9, 1926 to Elmer and Lena Altom in Floral, Arkansas. He was a retired propane gas serviceman and a United States Army World War II Veteran. He served in the Army from November 16, 1944 to August 24, 1946. He was a deacon at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Banner, Arkansas where he was instrumental in the building of the existing church. He lived his life for his Lord, his family, and to be kind to others which is evident by the host of people who loved him.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Evalee Sharp Altom of the home; daughter, Sharon Thomas (Rick) of Concord, Arkansas; son, Dewayne Altom (Ann) of Hackett, Arkansas; daughter, Diane Fulbright (Jim) of Drasco, Arkansas; and daughter, Cindy Jenkins (Steve) of Centennial, Colorado; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Nolan and Victor Altom; sister, Irene Yost; grandson, Jason Altom; and great-grandson, Ty Nalley.
Funeral services will be Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Banner with Bro. Freddie Stovall officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery located at Banner with arrangements by Qualls Batesville Funeral Service.
Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Scott Thomas, Greg Thomas, Jarrod Altom, Garry Sharp, Ronald Reed, and Aidan Altom.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bob Sharp, Alvis Sharp, and Larry Sharp.
