Qualls Funeral Homes would like to welcome Madison Cates to our team. She serves as an apprentice funeral director/executive assitant. She is mid-20s and has two children and a service dog that are the absolute lights in her life. She’s always had a love for horses and fishing. As long as she can remember, she has felt a calling to serve in the funeral home business, so she is finally persuing that dream! In the toughest of times, Madison is compassionate about serving our families.
Josh Chance and his wife of 3 years Colby reside in Cave City. He was raised in cave city and recently moved back home. Him and his wife are members and attend Cave City First Free Will Baptist Church where he plays the guitar in the worship band. His hobbies are riding motorcycles playing instruments of all kinds Hunting fishing ,working on vehicles with his father. And making memories with his wife. He currently has 9 years in the fire service and recently attended school to obtain his EMT. He loves his community and looks for different ways to serve them each day. Josh serves as an Apprentice Funeral Director here at Qualls Funeral Homes.
Elvin Girtman has lived in Independence County most of his life. He is a 1976 graduate of Batesville High School and married his wife, Betty, soon after. Betty passed away in 2011. He has two grown children, Kevin and Teaha. Elvin has one grandson, Conner. He worked for Batesville Funeral Service from 1989-2000 and Willis-Hays Funeral Service from 2000-2004. Elvin fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning his own restaurant in 2004 when he and Betty opened E & B Bigger Burger on Westside, which he ran for fifteen years. We are so privileged to have him back in the funeral business serving our families.
Dwayne assits when needed in the offices at both locations. Dwayne is a retired IT operations manager. He has preached the gospel for many years. Dwayne and his wife Brenda love to travel in their Jeep and spend time with their family.
John has been in the funeral business for twenty-five years and considers it an honor to serve the area families. He is a licensed funeral director and has been a minister for thirty-two years. He has a degree from Andersonville Theological Seminary and is an Arkansas Certified Medicolegal Death Investigator from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.
John is pastor of Floral Baptist Church, a Batesville Kiwanis Club member/board member, a Sharp County Deputy Coroner and serves as an Ambassador for the Batesville Area Chamber of Commerce. John lives between Batesville and Cave City on his family's farm, The Haven. He and his wife of twenty nine years, Danita, have four children; Trice and his wife, Samantha, Lillian, Garyn and Chace. In his spare time, John enjoys hunting, especially with the bow and most recently duck , fishing, Razorbacks, supporting Cave City Schools, antiquing, all sports, being active in the community and making memories with his family.
One thing that you can say about John is that he loves people. Showing Christ through his life is very important to him. Also, making new friends and eating at hometown food establishments is a highlight of his! John's favorite verse is Hebrews 4:16...Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Jamon takes care of the lawns at both locations and our Roselawn Cemetery.
He has been married to his wife, Jordan, for 5 years. They have three beautiful children together. One son named Able, and two daughters named Ava and Masi. Jamon was a lineman for several years and has recently quit that career path to be able to spend more time at home with his family. Recently, Jamon has been focused on growing his lawn care and handy man business, Manning Lawn Care.
Margie has lived in Independence County all of her life. She graduated from Cord-Charlotte Schools and soon after married her husband, Ronnie. Margie and Ronnie have two sons, Brad and Jason. She has nine grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. She and Ronnie attend New Prospect Missionary Baptist Church, where she is the church pianist. In her spare time, Margie enjoys playing the piano, flowers (especially her Gerbera Daisies and roses), canning, and cooking for the Holidays. She loves Arkansas Razorback Basketball and driving around seeing God's creation.
Roy has been in the funeral business for thirteen years and is a licensed funeral director. Roy was raised in Clarendon, AR and served in the United States Navy from 1986-1990. Roy is a Batesville Kiwanis Club member and is an elder at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. Roy has a daughter, Shelby who is married to Brett Dodds, they have Roy's pride and joy his grandson, Asher. In his spare time, Roy enjoys flea marketing and riding his side by side with Phyllis. He also enjoys hiking, camping and boating with his father, Roy Sr. who is 83 years young.
John Warnock and his wife of six years, Rasheedah, reside in Evening Shade. John is on our after hours on call team, does weekend cemetery set-ups and assists on funerals as needed.
